EDMOND, Okla. -Early morning lightning fairly close to Oak Tree National delayed the start of the United States Senior Open Thursday in Edmond, pushing things about an hour behind. One of the favorites, Germany’s Bernhard Langer, was suppose to tee off at 7:57am, but because of the delay, Langer finally hit his first shot at 9:15am.

Oklahoma City qualifier Rocky Walcher is on the golf course and had the lead for a brief period at 1-under par through his first 3 holes. Walcher is currently +2 as he starts to finish his opening 9 holes.

The “Oak Tree Gang” of golfers, local stars Scott Verplank, Gil Morgan, Bob Tway and Willie Wood have had their start times pushed back about an hour. Those local greats will now make their way to the tee box around 3:00pm today.
