ELK GROVE, Calif. – A runaway cow led officials on a four hour chase in California Wednesday morning.

According to KTXL, California Highway Patrol first spotted the black cow around 4 a.m.

Nearly a dozen police officers joined the chase and cornered the cow multiple times, but the cow always managed to escape.

Officials called farmers in the area to help them chase the cow.

Eventually they asked for a horse so a rancher could rope the cow.

Police say the cow was “taken into custody” around 8 a.m.
