OKLAHOMA CITY – You could hear police yelling “Get down!” as the driver of the RV crawled out of the wreckage.

Police say Richard Tarver is the man who led them on the high speed chase down the Kilpatrick Turnpike.

They were trying to serve three felony warrants to the 30-year-old man at the RV part on Rockwell Ave. when he took off in the camper.

Authorities said once Tarver noticed police, he jumped into his white RV and sped off.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol got involved once the suspect got onto I-35 and headed north.

He led police on a 27-mile chase, reaching speeds up to 100 mph.

Jason Phillips was on his way home from work when the RV nearly pushed him off the roadway.

“He about took my life,” Phillips said. “I’ve got six kids and a wife. Just not something they want to play with.”

Once on the Kilpatrick Turnpike, he managed to continue driving after he hit multiple stopsticks.

His tires flew off the rims and began to throw sparks into the grass.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department had to be called to put out some small grass fires that started along the turnpike.

The chase ended after about 30 minutes when the RV finally crashed just past Council Rd. on the turnpike.

Police arrested Tarver.

They said the woman who was with him is not facing charges.
