Update: 9:45 p.m. – The search for the missing Oklahoma plane has ended tragically.
Officials are on scene of a fatal aircraft collision in Okmulgee County.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirms the pilot was the only occupant and was killed in the collision.
Officials say it appears the plane clipped some trees and then crashed.
Authorities located the plane around 7:30 p.m. after the pilot’s wife received a ping from her husband’s cell phone. Police used the information from her cell phone to locate the plane.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration have been notified and will investigate the accident.

TULSA, Okla. – Officials say they are searching for a missing aircraft that failed to arrive at its destination Friday afternoon.
The Oklahoma Wing of Civil Air Patrol was notified by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center that a red, black and white Cessna 172, single-engine aircraft went missing after the plane failed to arrive at Tulsa’s Riverside Airpark.
The plane is said to have departed from Fort Worth, Texas Friday.
Officials say only one passenger was on-board – the pilot Gene Thompson of Tulsa.
Crews are actively searching for this airplane from both the ground and air. Officials say they will continue their search until the aircraft is found.
Officials say they have narrowed the search area to Okmulgee County.
