DEL CITY, Okla. – A 60-year-old Del City man is facing a criminal complaint of assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon.
According to court records, officers on Tinker Air Force Base noticed a man acting suspicious near the base last month.
When authorities tried to pull over the man’s car, he allegedly led them on a high-speed chase.
Records say a senior airman attempted to close the gate to stop the SUV from leaving the base.
However, the SUV accelerated and headed toward the airman, nearly hitting her.
Tinker Air Force Base personnel and troopers with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol followed the vehicle, which was allegedly driving at speeds over 100 miles per hour.
Officers arrested 60-year-old James Williams a short while later.
His preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 15.
If convicted of the charge, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
