SANIBEL ISLAND, FL — Fishermen have caught two rare and endangered sawfish off the coast of Florida’s Sanibel Island in less than a week.

After two days fishing off the coast of Sanibel, Gator Lynch had caught nothing to write home about. Then on Monday night, something he never could have expected tugged on his line.

“I fought it for about 15 minutes. I had no idea what it was,” said Lynch.

When it came on shore it was obvious, he caught an endangered smalltooth sawfish, weighing about 90 lbs.
